EVN Vice President Ngo Son Hai welcomes and works with Marubeni Group (Japan)

On October 4, in Hanoi, Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Ngo Son Hai welcomed and worked with Mr. Moroo Shino - General Director of Marubeni Asian Power Singapore cum Asia region, Marubeni Corporation (Japan).
Also attending the meeting was Mr. Yudai Kato - Chairman and CEO of Marubeni Asian Power Vietnam Company.

At the meeting, Mr. Moroo Shino, General Director of Marubeni Asian Power Singapore cum the Asia region, presented about Marubeni's projects in Vietnam such as Nghi Son 2 BOT project, Quang Ninh LNG power plant, O Mon 2 gas-fired power plant and other energy projects that Marubeni Group is interested in currently.
According to Mr. Moroo Shino, Marubeni Group has developed wind power projects worldwide since 2010 and has a lot of experience in this field. Currently, Marubeni is implementing the first commercial offshore wind power project in Japan, a floating wind power project off the coast of Scotland. In addition, this Group has developed solar power projects in the Middle East. With this experience, Marubeni wishes to invest in renewable energy projects such as solar power and offshore wind power projects in Vietnam.

Noting the opinions of Marubeni Group, EVN’s Vice President Ngo Son Hai informed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently developing a revised Electricity Law and Decrees related to gas-fired power, solar power, offshore wind power development, etc. When the laws and decrees take effect, they will be the legal basis for domestic and foreign businesses to invest in the above fields.
The EVN leader expects to learn from the experiences of international partners including Marubeni and appreciates the good cooperation relationship between EVN and Marubeni in recent time.
At the meeting, leaders of both sides discussed and shared the difficulties and challenges of the power industry in the current context as well as cooperation priorities in the coming time.
