Phu Tho: Ensuring safety when reconnecting power after floods

15:33, 17/09/2024

By September 12, in Phu Tho, many areas and households had been reconnected with power, ensuring safety for people's daily lives. However, there are still some areas in Viet Tri city and Ha Hoa, Doan Hung, Phu Ninh districts, etc. without power due to being in flooded areas.

Ensuring electrical safety for people after floods is extremely important. In addition to focusing on efforts to overcome and handle incidents, the Power sector also promotes and recommends measures for safe electricity use.

After monitoring, checking, and determining areas that ensure safety conditions, units will deploy power reconnection to ensure electrical safety for customers. For some power lines and substations that are deeply flooded and do not ensure a safe power supply, the company has directed units to temporarily not reconnect power to ensure safety for people.

Along with that, the company has directed its affiliated units to coordinate with localities to propagate and advise people to strictly implement the provisions of the law on electrical safety after the water recedes, such as the environment is still wet, therefore the risk of electrical safety is very high. In areas that are still deeply flooded, people need to turn off all circuit breakers and switches of the electrical system in the family; unplug devices from the power outlet and power source; and check the safety of the line after the meter... When the power is reconnected, people should not plug in or turn on the power immediately after the power is restored.

Accordingly, it is advisable to plug in or turn on low-valued electrical equipment in turn, leaving it for a while to check the stability of the power grid system. When the power is really stable, continue to plug in or turn on other electrical equipment.

Viet Tri City Electricity staff fix problem of low-voltage poles falling after storms

Up to now, some areas in Viet Tri City and Doan Hung and Phu Ninh districts have been affected with about 15,000 customers without electricity.

In the face of complicated flood developments, Phu Tho Power Company recommends that people in the province comply with measures to ensure safe electricity use when electricity units restore power after the flood. Accordingly, when the water recedes and there is no electricity, electrical equipment in the household must be carefully checked before use to avoid short circuits, fires, and danger to people and equipment due to long-term humid environments.

Turn off all switches and main circuit breakers in the household. Unplug devices from the power outlet and power source. Check the line after the meter as the property and the responsibility of the household to ensure safety before reconnecting. When detecting broken, scattered, or short-circuited power lines in construction works, immediately notify the power unit via hotline 19006769.

Absolutely do not plug in or turn on all electrical devices at the same time, or devices with high capacity such as water heaters, air conditioners, irons, washing machines... Observe and listen around to detect signals of electrical short-circuits and immediately notify the nearest power unit for timely support.
