Implementing many solutions
As the unit managing nearly 250km of 22kV medium-voltage lines and 297 distribution substations operating and supplying power to nearly 39,000 customers in Tay Hoa district, grid safety corridor management is one of the tasks that Tay Hoa Power Unit has focused on implementing since the beginning of the hot season.
According to Tay Hoa Power Unit, the power grid managed by the unit passes through mountainous areas, forestry areas, and concentrated residential areas, so there are many potential risks of electrical accidents among people or incidents causing power interruptions due to grid safety corridor violations... Therefore, the management of high-voltage grid safety corridors and phase-to-ground distances of power lines are implemented by this unit using many solutions.
Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Director of Tay Hoa Power Unit said: One of the effective solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of high-voltage grid safety corridors management, prevent accidents, minimize incidents, and improve the reliability of power supply is to regularly inspect the site and assign personal responsibility in the Power line and substation management team.

The unit also requires individuals to correctly and completely list corridor items such as constructions, houses, and trees, check the sag of the power line, and promptly detect violations, and violation risks to have a basis for assessing the danger level and developing a handling plan.
At the same time, there are temporary remedial measures such as installing warning signs and safety notices, especially at places where power lines pass through entertainment activities and crowded people to prevent risks, ensure the safe operation of the power grid and keep the community safe.
In recent times, Phu Hoa Power Unit has also proactively coordinated with communes and towns to propagate and raise people's awareness of the electric discharge danger due to electrical safety distance violations; erect and mount warning electrical discharge and wires’ height signs at locations where vehicles often pass under medium-voltage lines. At the same time, apply legal bases and coordinate with local authorities to have strict sanctions against those who deliberately violate grid safety corridors.
People must raise awareness
Along with technical solutions, power units also encourage people to commit to not violating grid safety corridors. According to Tay Hoa Power Unit, they are maintaining and widely implementing electrical safety management and propaganda so that each person in the area understands and knows how to prevent and minimize violations that lead to accidents that interrupt the power supply.
According to Mr. Ngo Viet Tu, Deputy Director in charge of Dong Xuan Power Unit, to minimize electrical accidents and grid safety corridor violations, Dong Xuan Power Unit focuses on clearing grid safety corridors; mobilizing organizations and individuals to sign a commitment to strictly comply with regulations on fire prevention and fighting, ensuring grid safety corridors. In production forest areas or rivers where people often fish, the unit always puts up warning signs.
“For cases of building houses near the power grid corridor, we send notices to the homeowner about implementing safety measures and risks of unsafe power grid corridors. Every week, Dong Xuan Power Unit also sends documents on ensuring power grid corridors to local radio stations and People's Committees of communes and towns to propagate to local people. The unit also distributes leaflets to disseminate legal regulations on power grid corridors, guides on measures to ensure electrical safety, contributing to raising awareness of compliance with legal regulations on protecting the power grid corridor safety for people", said Mr. Ngo Viet Tu.
